Terms of Service

Live Arrival Guarantee

All live shipments are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee (LAG), barring policy violations on behalf of the buyer. The LAG policy is outlined below.

Shipping is via 2-Day FedEx Express Air unless otherwise upgraded to UPS or FedEx overnight. We do not ship USPS due to local restrictions. 2-Day FedEx shipments arrive overnight around half of the time, so please be available to pick up at a FedEx Ship Center hub (preferred), or receive at your doorstep, both 1 and 2 days after shipment.

Shipping rates as of 05/12/2026

FedEx 2-day Express to Alaska – Free

FedEx 2-day Express to lower 48 – $45

UPS / FedEx overnight – variable

Local pickup in central Oregon is also available.

Axolotl juveniles will not be shipped until a minimum of 4″ in length. We will not ship 2-day when the temperature is above 85f at the destination, overnight shipping is still available until local temperature reaches a high of 95f. Hub pick-up is safer and highly recommended, and comes at no cost to you.

While axolotls tolerate shipping very well, in the extraordinarily rare instance of an axolotl arriving deceased, photo evidence of both the bagged animal and all packaging must be provided within 2 hours of delivery to your home, or within 2 hours of picking up at a FedEx hub. If delivered to a FedEx hub, the axolotl may be picked up until the end of business hours on the day of delivery. Refunds will be processed within 7 days of delivery, if appropriate evidence is provided for LAG. Refund may be either an electronic refund or a replacement animal of similar value, with the replacement being preferred by us.

Eggs and Non-Living Purchases

Eggs are not covered by our LAG due to their sensitive nature. However, if more than 50% of the purchased eggs do not develop to hatching, you may opt to receive a credit towards our next clutch of eggs, at the cost of shipping.

There are no guarantees on seeded media, however replacements may be provided upon both of our agreements. All merchandise will arrive in an appropriate or new condition, or you will receive a replacement at no cost to you.

All sales are final, however we will accept any of our animals back and pay return shipping from any FedEx Ship Center in America.

Requirements Before Shipping

We may delay shipments at our discretion due to weather or other animal safety concerns.

Live shipments are typically mailed the next available Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday from purchase, after the axolotl has been fasted for an appropriate amount of time (typically 5-7 days).

As a prerequisite to shipping, you must provide photos of your tap water chemistry results as tested on a liquid test kit, specifically pH, GH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. You must also know if chlorine is present in your tap water. Additionally, based on these test results you must own and be willing to use the water treatments necessary for the axolotl to thrive.

We heavily advise that all axolotls be tubbed for 30 days after shipping or relocation, as both a quarantine and acclimation measure. We generally will not ship unless you have agreed to tub the axolotl for a minimum of 30 days after arrival.

Deposits, Hold Times, and Boarding

Deposits are typically $25 for animals priced under $100, any animal valued at a higher price may require a larger deposit as discussed.

A free 7 day ‘interest period’ hold is applicable in situations where you need time to decide before placing your deposit. This means that we will hold your preferred axolotl for free for 7 days following your initial show of interest.

If you would like an axolotl grown out to identifiable gender before shipping, we will discuss this service and agree on an appropriate grow-out fee.

After an agreed-upon deposit is made, you may make payments until the time of shipping. There are no limitations to what size payments you can make, however typical boarding fees apply after the 90 day deposit hold has expired.

Boarding is $10 a week for the general service, however an animal purchased from our hatchery may be boarded at $5/week.

“Return Policy”

If for any reason you can no longer care for the axolotl, the axolotl should be returned to us, or if you are able to find a suitable home, the new owners should be put in immediate contact with us for continued guidance. While we accept any surrender salamanders, we specifically intend to limit our production to a number of animals that we can personally monitor, and we will always accept animals back to us which have been in our hatchery / rehab facility, on an automatic priority. We will send an insulated box and shipping supplies to you, instruct you via video call on packaging the axolotl, and pay the return label.
